Braving Boys

I started blogging about breast cancer the day I learned it had invaded my body. But I’ve never routinely blogged about my children — invaders of another sort. I’ve been braving cancer for a little more than four years, but I’ve been braving boys for more than eight. Seems only fitting I document the beautiful and boisterous ways of Joey and Danny. Come see me over at Braving Boys — I’ve only just begun, but if you follow me, I promise to keep you entertained.

Happy Birthday to Me!

Tomorrow is my birthday, and today I had a mammogram that looked perfectly pretty. The technician who delivered my results sang “Happy Birthday” to me, and I must say it feels pretty good to have almost reached the age of 39 when at the age of 34, I wasn’t so sure I’d live very long at all. Time to celebrate — should have kept that party dress I’m wearing in the photo above!

Fighting Breast Cancer in Iraq

My friend Julian sent me these photos today, along with these words:

I ran 3.2 miles for the cause.

I am still working in Iraq.

The function organizers were expecting 500 and over 1000 people showed up — almost all military and some civilian contractors. This was the largest turnout on this base.
