Sending out some well wishes to a few friends — Carmen, who, on her second run with breast cancer, is recovering from tram flap surgery. And Lynea, she’s navigating the murky waters that come flooding in after a new breast cancer diagnosis. Also, Stacie, sporting a newly-shaved head as she fights her way through the burden of chemotherapy. Genne, too. She is healing from a mastectomy and reconstruction, and the whole ordeal has challenged her to the core.
If you are somewhere along the path of cancer survival and would like a wish sent your way, please leave a comment and tell me what’s going on in your world.

Thanks my friend. Things are starting to look up. Only two surgeries to go and I will be riding the Tour De Felasco in a few weeks come hell or high water. My best wishes for you in the new year as well. Genne’
Genne — Thank you, and I know you’ll do great!
To those healing, would you be interested in something that could help?

I’m 41 and newly diagnosed, sliced, diced and forever changed. I’m starting chemo on Wednesday and I’m in that cartoon with the hapless canoeist confused by the increasingly loud sound of rushing water, aware that there’s something ahead, but not knowing its extent, the depth or breadth of what I’m about to fall into. The stats I wear like labels at a meet-n-greet are IDC, 2cm, Grade 3, ER-/PR-, HER2-. My two boys are wonderful, as is my loving and caring husband…any best wishes or words of support for the wait up to the chemo day would be most appreciative! BTW, I’ve been following your blog since the day of my diagnosis…thank you.
Maggie.
Hi Maggie,
I wrote some chemo-inspired articles a while back for Health Central. They might serve you well as you embark on the whole intimidating process:
Preparing for chemo: http://www.healthcentral.com/breast-cancer/coping-with-chemotherapy.htm2923-143.html
Managing through chemo: http://www.healthcentral.com/breast-cancer/coping-with-chemotherapy-2924-143.html
Surviving chemo: http://www.healthcentral.com/breast-cancer/coping-with-chemotherapy-2924-143.html
I wish you the very best, and I am so glad you are reading my blog. We are not all that different in our stats — I was IDC, 1.1 cm, Grade 2, ER-/PR-, but HER2+ — so maybe my story can help as sort of a road map (or canoe map!) as you navigate your path!
Keep me posted, and be well!
