It happens every year right around my birthday — the annual mammogram. It’s no big deal to me anymore, because I figure things are either going to turn out OK, or they’re not, in which case, I’ll know what to do, because I’ve done it before. So, I just submit to the routine, cross my fingers really hard, and accept all prayers that come my way (thanks, Katie Dain). And so far, ever since that day back in 2004 when cancer crossed my path, everything has been just peachy.
Today, things turned out OK.
My mammogram was normal.

What great news. I’m so happy for you. Too bad this has to happen around your birthday every year, but cancer never cares about butting in or if its timing is off does it? Enjoy your summer more now!!

I came to this article after reading your story about breast cancer and learnng to cope with hope. Since it rhymes that makes you a poet in addition to being a writer. That was a great story.
I am not a great writer like you but would you call that serendipity (1. The faculty of making fortunate discoveries by accident.
2. The fact or occurrence of such discoveries.
3. An instance of making such a discovery)?
But the above is an example of why I will be greatly hated if I eradicate breast cancer. I did not come up with the solution. I am just a messenger. But the saying is “Don’t kill the messenger!”
Eradicating breast cancer will greatly hurt the economy. So that would make me a terrorist for eradicating breast cancer. But you do not need to get breast cancer again. Time magazine chose vitamin D as one of the top 10 medical breakthroughs for 2007. In 2010 the RDA of vitamin D was tripled. In the last 3 years 6 MDs wrote 6 books on vitamin D.
Moores Cancer Center is proposing that cancer is a vitamin D deficiency. The doctor of public health there, Dr Cedric Garland, says that enough vitamin D (lifeguard levels) will eradicate breast cancer. Webmd has a webpage about vitamin D deficiency and breast cancer.
Christiane Northrup M.D. has an article on Oprah’s website called Vitamin D Prevents Breast Cancer. The “great and powerful” Dr Oz has a 6 minute Youtube video about vitamin D and breast, colon and uterine cancer. It is called The Power of Vitamin D. The quote is from The Wizard of Oz.
