Good Luck Boobies

My friend Fitz from made these boobies for me prior to a Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K. She was my fitness trainer at the time, and she convinced me that my cancer-beaten body could run (not just walk) 3.1 miles. And it did.

Making Strides: Not This Year

Making Strides 2010

Over the past five years, I’ve raised nearly $15,000 and run more than 15 miles, and I guess I just want a break. Plus, Joey has a football game on the same day as this year’s event (October 23), and honestly, I’d rather be in the stands watching my boy than pounding the pavement wrapped in pink ribbons and black magic marker.
So, I’m passing the torch to the other breast cancer survivors who will descend upon the race location next weekend and inspire the masses with their courage and strength.

Maybe I’ll be back next year. Maybe not. I’m just not sure.

See, Breast Cancer Does Bear Gifts

Breast cancer gave me a gift today. It arrived in my mailbox, and I think it’s pretty cool. Yes, I’m silly like that, thinking gifts can flow from something very frightening and life-threatening. Some day, I’ll write all about the upside of cancer. For now, I just want to share my nifty keychain!
