Stomach Cancer:
What Is It?
Stomach cancer, also called gastric cancer, is a disease in which cells in the
stomach grow abnormally, escape normal control and may form a tumor. Most stomach
cancers begin in the stomach lining and are classified as gastric adenocarcinomas.
Stomach cancer may develop in the cardia region near the esophagus or in non-cardia
stomach regions such as the body, antrum or pylorus.
